Wheal Coates Tin Mine is one of the most iconic historical buildings in Cornwall, situated on a cliff edge along from St. Agnes on the North Coast, it is a magnificent site. This painting is part of a series of paintings that were inspired after making sketches for an instagram challenge, to paint a landscape a day for thirty days. I visited local beaches and walked the coastal paths of Cornwall making sketches along the way. Incorporating my love of colour and pattern I have tried to capture the essence of the landscapes that I sketched during my challenge. The original painting is a richly layered artwork which reflects the layers of history in this ancient landmark.
