Mission Complete

Well I set myself a few instagram challenges this year and the first one is now complete, hooooragh! I chose to paint a leaf a day for 30 days, no restrictions in the materials used, just to paint a leaf a day. Even though this was a relatively easy challenge I still found it hard to search for a leaf that inspired me each and every day but I persevered, sometimes painting the same leaf in different mediums and different styles. I started with black ink and after a while switched it up to acrylic marker pen and then again to watercolour. With the black ink it was a good challenge to really look at the positive and negative space. Below are a few of my favourite black ink leaves.

With the acrylic marker leaf studies I chose to simplify the shapes and patterns found within the leaves and used a limited colour palette which was bright and in contrast to the black ink paintings.

To change things up a bit, the last leaf studies were completed in watercolour and I enjoyed the simplicity of these paintings. If I had to choose a favourite it would probably be number 30, seen at the bottom of this page, for its pure simplicity and simple lines.

I have put it out there that if anybody is interested in purchasing a leaf study I am selling them for £20 each including p & p. However having looked at them all again I may just work on some of them a little more and think about a way to present a few together that compliment each other so watch this space! If you are interested in seeing the whole collection you can pop on over to my instagram account suzieloudesignstudio where each day's leaf can be found in my past posts. Drop me an email if you wish to purchase any before I decide to change them up!

Bye for now and hope to see you again in March!

Suzie
